Cal Lutheran women's soccer clinched the SCIAC regular-season title Oct. 31, beating No. 15 Pomona-Pitzer 2-1 at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks.

The victory gave head coach Frank Marino's Regals a 15-1-3 overall record and a 10-0-2 mark in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play, according to the CLU athletics schedule page. The win extended Cal Lutheran's winning streak to 12 games and secured the No. 1 seed in the SCIAC Tournament.

Jessica Sprouse opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing a feed from Tessa French for her sixth goal of the season, according to the box score. The Regals carried that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Sophomore Sawyer Frye doubled the advantage in the 66th minute, converting off an assist from Stephenie Hackett for her seventh goal of the year. Pomona-Pitzer's Brooke Bailey pulled one back in the 74th minute, but Cal Lutheran held on.

Goalkeeper Kira Kasarda made five saves across 90 minutes to preserve the win.

The two teams had played to a 1-1 draw in the SCIAC opener Sept. 16 in Claremont. Both entered the Halloween rematch unbeaten in conference play. The box score showed Pomona-Pitzer at 12-2-1 overall and 9-1-1 in SCIAC play after the loss.

The final SCIAC standings show Cal Lutheran atop the conference at 10-0-2. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished third at 7-3-2.

Streak built across two months

The Regals lost just once all year, and their 12-game winning streak traces back to late September. Frye earned SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week honors earlier in October after recording a hat trick against Redlands, according to CLU athletics.

Fifth-year midfielder Olivia Suarez set the tone in September, scoring four goals in the opening weekend to earn the conference's first Athlete of the Week award of the 2026 season. Suarez later suffered a career-ending injury during the conference opener. On Senior Night Oct. 24, she kicked off the match against Caltech before being substituted out in front of the home crowd, according to a CLU athletics recap. The Regals won that game 5-0.

Cal Lutheran then blanked UC Santa Cruz 3-0 on Oct. 27 at William Rolland Stadium, outshooting the Slugs 29-3, according to a CLU athletics recap.

What's next

The Regals host the SCIAC Tournament semifinal Wednesday, Nov. 4, at William Rolland Stadium against the winner of the No. 4 Chapman vs. No. 5 Occidental play-in match. The SCIAC Tournament final is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, also in Thousand Oaks.
