Cal Lutheran junior Jackson Stitt shot a two-day total of 3-over-par 147 to tie for 12th individually at The Clash, his best finish of the fall season.
Stitt's performance led the Kingsmen to a tie for fifth place in the 13-team tournament at Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga on Oct. 19-20, according to Cal Lutheran athletics. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps hosted the event.
Cal Lutheran finished at 19-over-par, tied with Linfield. The Kingsmen opened with a 13-over-par first round on Monday, Oct. 19, then shaved seven strokes off that total with a 6-over-par second round on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Tournament host CMS won at 5-over-par. Redlands finished at 8-over-par, with Willamette and La Sierra rounding out the top four ahead of the Kingsmen.
Stitt opened with a 1-over 73 before carding a 2-over 74 in the final round.
Freshman Darren Powell tied for 28th at 6-over-par, posting matching rounds of 3-over 75 for a 150 total. Tsukasa Katsuki and Shane Moncrief both tied for 39th at 8-over-par. Katsuki posted the Kingsmen's biggest round-to-round swing, following a 9-over 81 in the first round with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday. Moncrief went from a 6-over 78 to a 2-over 74.
Luke Rimkunas rounded out the scoring lineup, tying for 53rd at 12-over-par after rounds of 75 and 81. Grady Newsom competed as an individual and tied for 46th at 10-over-par with rounds of 74 and 80.
The Kingsmen play under longtime head coach Jeff Lindgren, a Thousand Oaks resident who has led the program since 1990. In a May profile in The Echo, Cal Lutheran's student newspaper, Lindgren described his approach: "I think I'm a good golf coach but I think I'm a better, kind of, life coach."
The Clash closes Cal Lutheran's fall schedule. The Kingsmen return to competition in spring 2027.
