Sawyer Frye needed 66 seconds to open the scoring and less than 10 minutes to put the game out of reach.

The Cal Lutheran sophomore fired a hat trick Wednesday, Sept. 30, powering the Regals to a 4-1 win over Redlands at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks. The victory extended Cal Lutheran's winning streak to three games and pushed its record to 6-1-3 overall and 3-0-2 in SCIAC play.

Frye finished off a feed from Isabella Haulman just 1:06 into the match to give Cal Lutheran an early lead. Teammate Stephenie Hackett doubled the advantage shortly after, with Frye picking up the assist. Then Frye struck again at the 9:28 mark, once more set up by Haulman, and the Regals led 3-0 before most fans had settled into their seats.

The rout was on.

The onslaught continued after halftime. Frye completed her hat trick just over five minutes into the second half to make it 4-0. Redlands' lone goal came on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.

Cal Lutheran controlled every phase of the match. The Regals outshot the Bulldogs 30-5, put 14 shots on target and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeepers Kira Kasarda and Reagan Keelan split time in net, combining for two saves. The Regals used 30 players in the match, a sign of their depth.

The three-goal night capped a strong stretch for Frye. She scored her second goal of the season in Cal Lutheran's 3-0 win over Illinois Tech on Sept. 7, assisted by fifth-year midfielder Olivia Suarez. The Regals opened the 2026 campaign 3-0 for the first time since 2016, according to a Cal Lutheran athletics release, and the three-game winning streak has them at 6-1-3 heading into October.

Cal Lutheran travels to Caltech on Saturday, Oct. 3, for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
