Cal Lutheran women's soccer shut out Occidental 2-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at W.C. Patterson Field in Los Angeles, extending the Regals' winning streak to nine games and their unbeaten run to 11.

The Regals improved to 12-1-3 overall and 8-0-2 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play with the road victory, according to Cal Lutheran athletics. Cal Lutheran recorded its ninth shutout of the season and matched its longest winning streak since 2023.

The Thousand Oaks program dominated possession but entered halftime scoreless. Cal Lutheran outshot Occidental 11-2 in the first half and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks, but the Tigers kept the Regals off the board.

That changed quickly after the break.

Jessica Sprouse scored just 1 minute, 39 seconds into the second half off an assist from Sawyer Frye to give Cal Lutheran a 1-0 lead. It was Sprouse's fifth goal of the season.

The Regals doubled their advantage in the 60th minute when Frye set up Stephenie Hackett, who buried her fifth goal of the year to make it 2-0. Frye, a sophomore midfielder, assisted both goals and has been a catalyst during the streak. In coverage published in October, The Echo's Casey Pope reported that head coach Frank Marino praised Frye's development, saying, "I just see her getting more confidence and growing as a player …"

Cal Lutheran finished with a 25-6 shot advantage, including 11 on goal, and a 16-2 edge in corner kicks. Hackett led the attack with five shots, while Sprouse added four. Isabella Haulman and Keira Hazard each contributed three attempts.

Goalkeeper Kira Kasarda played all 90 minutes and made two saves to preserve the clean sheet. Occidental managed just two shots on goal for the entire match.

Over their last nine games, the Regals have outscored opponents 28-3. Cal Lutheran followed the Occidental win with a 5-0 Senior Night victory over Caltech on Saturday, Oct. 24, pushing the winning streak to 10 and the overall record to 13-1-3, according to the CLU schedule.

The Regals sit atop the SCIAC standings with 29 conference points through 11 league matches. Pomona-Pitzer is close behind at 28 points with one fewer conference game played, setting up a potential title-deciding matchup when the Sagehens visit William Rolland Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m.

Before that, Cal Lutheran hosts UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. in Thousand Oaks. The SCIAC tournament begins Monday, Nov. 2.
