Sophomore Zach Mohr scored three goals Friday, Sept. 11, to lead the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Colorado College at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks.

Mohr opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a set piece after Shaw Nishizawa delivered a free kick and Liam Stoner headed the ball toward goal. Colorado College's Arlo Sollinger equalized in the 33rd minute, and the teams went to halftime tied 1-1.

Mohr needed just five minutes of the second half to restore Cal Lutheran's lead, scoring in the 51st minute to make it 2-1. Goalkeeper Jackson Bankers stopped all five Colorado College shots on target in the second half to protect the advantage.

Mohr completed the hat trick at 89:49, finishing a ball from Maximo Schelotto to seal the result.

The win improved Cal Lutheran to 2-1-1 on the season. That record already matches the Kingsmen's win total from all of 2025, when the program went 2-11-5, according to the Cal Lutheran athletics website. The Kingsmen's previous win before the 2026 campaign came Sept. 20, 2025, against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Mohr's breakout has been rapid. He scored the first goal of his collegiate career Sept. 7 in a 4-2 win over Linfield. He now has four goals in two matches.

Cal Lutheran faces its stiffest test of the young season Sunday, Sept. 13, when No. 4 Emory visits William Rolland Stadium at 10 a.m. The ranking appears on both the Cal Lutheran and Emory Athletics schedule pages. The Eagles reached the national semifinals for the first time in program history last season, tying a program record with 16 wins, according to the Emory Wheel. Senior forward Lorenzo Avalos, the reigning University Athletic Association (UAA) Offensive Player of the Year, scored eight goals in 13 appearances in 2025. Midfielder Logan Steren added six goals and two assists while starting all 22 games, earning All-Region and NCAA Division III All-Tournament Team honors.

The Kingsmen's next home match after the Emory game is Wednesday, Sept. 16, against Pomona-Pitzer at William Rolland Stadium at 7 p.m.
