An Oxnard man faces assault, battery and child abuse charges after allegedly attacking two minors at a Thousand Oaks business on Oct. 10.
Ronnie Lee Stoner, 43, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 15, according to a Ventura County Sheriff's Office news release. Deputies booked Stoner on charges of assault likely to produce great bodily injury, battery and child abuse.
Deputies responded to a disturbance at a business in the 100 block of North Moorpark Road around 7 p.m. on Oct. 10, according to the Ventura County Star. The sheriff's office said an initial investigation found that a physical altercation had broken out among juveniles inside the facility.
About 10 minutes after that fight was broken up, Stoner allegedly confronted a 12-year-old boy who had been involved, the release stated.
Deputies reviewed witness-recorded cellphone video and surveillance footage from the business. The footage allegedly showed Stoner aggressively confronting the 12-year-old, grabbing him by the front of his shirt and attempting to headbutt him, according to the sheriff's office. Several people stepped in to separate Stoner from the boy. The 12-year-old did not sustain injuries.
The sheriff's office also alleged that Stoner pushed and repeatedly poked a 17-year-old employee in the throat while the teen tried to retreat to the facility's employee lounge.
The Thousand Oaks Patrol Service, the East County Investigations Bureau's Major Crimes Unit and the East County Special Enforcement Unit handled the case, the release stated. KEYT also reported on the arrest.
The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jon Nungester at 805-371-8344.
