The Calleguas Municipal Water District board will vote Wednesday, Sept. 16, on a $147,000 dock replacement at Lake Bard in Thousand Oaks.

The floating maintenance dock project is one of several infrastructure items on the board's consent calendar, according to the district's agenda packet. Board members toured the existing dock in April after a presentation by Fernando Baez, the district's manager of engineering.

Lake Bard serves as more than a maintenance site. During the Sandy Fire, firefighting helicopters used the reservoir hundreds of times for aerial refill operations, according to the district's June 2026 status report.

Calleguas-Ventura Interconnection advances

The board will also consider authorizing Board President Raul Avila and General Manager Kristine McCaffrey to sign easement deeds for two additional parcels needed for the Calleguas-Ventura Interconnection, a major pipeline project.

The district approved a $33.7 million budget for the project in April. It awarded the construction contract to Blois Construction, Inc. in July. The board has already signed easements for four other parcels in earlier votes this year.

Desalination grant draws regional support

The agenda includes three letters of support for Camrosa Water District's application to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's WaterSMART Desalination Construction grant program. The grant would fund a reverse osmosis facility at the Conejo Water Treatment Plant.

Rep. Julia Brownley, Ventura County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeff Gorell and Camarillo Mayor David Tennessen each wrote to the bureau backing the application. The letters are listed as information items. No board vote on the grant is scheduled.

Other agenda items

The board will consider a $20,067 contract increase for Aspen Environmental Group's work on the Smith Road Tank project. That increase would raise the contract from $235,940 to $256,007. The agenda also includes a conservation programs summary, water use and sales data, and a payment register totaling $15.1 million for Aug. 8 through Sept. 8.

A closed session on public services or facilities is also scheduled.

The meeting begins at 4 p.m. at 2100 Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks. Residents can submit written comments to [email protected] by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, or join remotely via Zoom (Webinar ID: 868 3213 2229, Passcode: 938450) or by phone at 720-707-2699. The board plans to adjourn to a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m.
