Dos Bocas Mexican Restaurant and Bar has opened at 520 N. Ventu Park Road in Newbury Park, taking over the former Habanero Mexican Grill space.
The restaurant was open as of Oct. 31, featuring authentic Mexican cuisine, a full bar and live music, according to Conejo Valley Guide.
A post in the Westlake Village Living Facebook group identified the Amezcua family as the people behind Dos Bocas. The post described them as the family behind Carla's Bakery & Mexican Food, a Moorpark restaurant. Carla's Bakery's own website states the business was opened in 2006 by Juan Carlos Amezcua and his family as a traditional Mexican bakery and taqueria.
The Facebook post also said Chef Roberto is staying on in the kitchen at Dos Bocas. It described the menu as one that "will feel familiar with new items and fresh ingredients."
During the soft opening, the restaurant operated on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations, according to the Facebook post. Regular hours and menu pricing have not been publicly confirmed.
Conejo Valley Guide directs customers to the restaurant's Instagram page, @dosbocasmxbarnbp, for updates.
